Shipping Process

Everyone can ship with Sallaum Lines! You do not have to be a shipping professional in order to complete a shipment and succeed in delivering it to a certain destination: that’s what our customer service does for you.

Every shipment undergoes the following process:

  1. Choose a Schedule
  2. Get a Quotation with Rates
  3. Booking
  4. Documentation
  5. Track Your Cargo

Let’s explain the individual steps in more detail.

  1. Consult our schedules to better plan your shipment. Please be advised when booking an occasional shipment, procedures might take up to a full week.

    Shipping Schedules:
  2. Shipping for the first time with Sallaum Lines? In order to provide you with a proper and accurate quotation, it is utterly important to give us as much information as possible regarding the cargo and the destination:

    • Tell us who you are.
    • Please describe the cargo you would like to be shipped.
    • To which destination do you want the cargo shipped?

  3. Once you’ve checked the schedule and we’ve confirmed your rates, the next step is to book the units to be shipped. If you require freight forwarding services, we have many forwarding agents localized in both Europe and the US.

  4. Certain documents related to the vehicle are unconditionally needed for proper shipping and handling according to local legislation.

    Required documents:
    • The original registration certificate (inside EU)
    • If the vehicle is outside the EU, customs documents must be provided or other certificates approved by the EU indicating the legality of the vehicle (e.g certificate of loss of gray card stamped by the European Police)
  5. Shipping your clients’ vehicles:

When depositing a vehicle, the following procedures and security measures will be undertaken:
    1. Specify the destination of the vehicle staff parking.
    2. Park the vehicle at the location indicated by staff.
    3. Turn off the vehicle and leave the keys in the ignition.
    4. If there is a code or an alarm, please inform the staff.

    Shipping your own vehicle:

You need to communicate this at the forwarding agent's office, where you will be provided with a supplementary form to be included and completed:
    • Full details of the recipient
    • Description of the vehicle
    • An estimation of the vehicle price is requested for the Belgian customs.
  6. The bill of sale is the purchase invoice of a vehicle. An invoice from a Belgian or European Union dealer is required when registering the vehicle.

    • Full details of the dealer
    • An invoice number
    • The name of the vehicle
    • Price excluding VAT
    • Full details of the recipient

  7. Once the registration is completed, the staff will ask you to specify the method of payment.

    Two payment options:

Cash on the spot - for priority boarding the first ship to sail, cash payment is mandatory Bank transfer - you will be required to communicate the last 6 digits of the chassis

    If payment is overdue:

If a vehicle has not been fully paid for upon arriving at the destination, please be advised that the agent reserves the right to sell the vehicle in order to recover costs of transportation on the 15th day after discharge, and this without appeal. If, however, the transport costs have been paid on time within 15 days, the vehicle documents (car registration and bill of lading) are then transferred to our agents at least 1 week after the departure of the vessel.
