Sallaum Lines Celebrates Keel Laying of 7,500-Unit Dual-Fuel PCTC Vessel at Mawei Shipyard
On October 14, 2024, Sallaum Lines marked the keel laying of its new 7,500-unit dual-fuel Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) vessel, “Ocean Breeze,” at Mawei Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipyard. This significant milestone celebrates the official start of the vessel’s assembly, following a steel cutting ceremony for “Ocean Explorer” held at the same shipyard earlier that day, as well as the recent steel cutting for “Ocean Glory” on October 12 at CMJL (Nanjing). Prominent representatives from Sallaum Lines, DNV, FLEET Management Company, Shenzhen Leasing, China Financial Leasing, and the Fujian Shipping Administration were in attendance.
The “Ocean Breeze” has a total length of 199.9 meters, a vertical distance of 195.6 meters, a molded width of 38 meters, a molded depth of 14.8 meters, a design draft of 8.65 meters, and a maximum draft of 10 meters. The ship’s propulsion system is designed as a single engine and single propeller, using an LNG dual-fuel main engine, single bow thruster, and electric RORO system. The cargo hold is equipped with 13 vehicle decks including 4 liftable decks. It is mainly used to transport various types of vehicles including heavy-duty trucks. It can transport new energy vehicles fueled by hydrogen and natural gas on decks 11, 12, and 13. It is classified by the ABS classification society.
As the world’s shipping industry accelerates the pace of green and intelligent development, the new generation of dual-fuel vessels is gaining momentum due to its green and environmentally friendly characteristics. The Ocean Class series is designed with both environmental sustainability and safety in mind. It uses an LNG dual-fuel power system, which significantly reduces carbon emissions—coupled with advanced loading monitoring systems and safe and reliable RORO equipment, which ensures the safety of vehicle transportation.
To ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of the project, Fujian Shipping has established a dedicated management team. The team, comprising the best design and construction experts, has implemented a comprehensive construction plan with rigorous oversight at every stage of production, from design to safety protocols.
Scheduled for delivery in mid-2025, the “Ocean Breeze” marks a new era of maritime innovation for Sallaum Lines, setting new standards for efficient, eco-friendly cargo transportation on a global scale.
