Sallaum Lines Announces Transition to Safe Bunkering with Biofuels
As part of our transition plan to safe bunkering, our vessel, Silver Moon, is now operating on a biofuel blend of 90% Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) and 10% Fatty Acid Methyl Esters (FAME)—a significant step toward reducing harmful emissions and promoting cleaner fuel alternatives.
This initiative is part of our broader sustainability strategy, with 3,400 metric tons of biofuel expected to be supplied in 2025, leading to an estimated 1,000 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions saved. Similarly, we achieved a reduction of 10% in emissions on our first voyage from South Africa to Europe, marking a crucial milestone in our sustainability journey.
By investing in biofuels, we align our operations with global environmental goals and challenge long-standing industry norms to drive real change.
