Sallaum Lines Launches the Blue Corridor: Responsible RoRo Shipping Between Europe and Africa

February 2026 — Sallaum Lines announces the launch of the Blue Corridor initiative, an ambitious sustainability program in the company’s decarbonization journey. The Blue Corridor begins with Sallaum Lines’ new Ocean Class vessels operating on the Europe and Africa trade, where it’s most needed, positioning the company as a leader in low-carbon and transparent RoRo shipping.

This initiative represents a first-of-its-kind effort in the RoRo sector, establishing a dedicated corridor where advanced green technologies, operational efficiency, and radical transparency converge to promote cleaner fuels, responsible trade, and measurable climate action.

Green Operations as Fundamental Pillar

Sallaum Lines is adopting a series of innovations aimed at cutting emissions and optimizing operational performance:

  • Fuel Transition: Ocean Class vessels are LNG dual-fuel capable, with a roadmap toward progressive adoption of low-carbon fuels.
  • Eco-Speed Protocols: Voluntary speed reductions in emission-control zones and high-biodiversity waters to minimize environmental impact.
  • AI-Powered Voyage Optimization: Smart routing that factors in weather and ocean currents to reduce fuel consumption.
  • Shore Power Readiness: A commitment to connect to shore-side electricity as soon as infrastructure becomes available at key ports.

As one of the first shipping lines to deploy LNG-powered RoRo vessels on the Europe–Africa trade, Sallaum Lines is setting a new point of reference for sustainable maritime transport. The Blue Corridor embodies the company’s forward-thinking approach to efficiency through innovation, aligning with global decarbonization goals and supporting industry regulators’ efforts to accelerate the transition toward net-zero shipping.

“The Blue Corridor is more than a route; it’s a commitment to a cleaner, smarter, and more transparent maritime future,” said Sami Sallaum, Sallaum Lines Chairman. “We are proud to lead by example, demonstrating that responsible trade and commercial performance can go hand in hand.”
